The Windows app is missing some important functions like the ability to setup motion zones. This requires one to have a smart device like an iPhone, iPad, download ring app, or Android phone to properly setup the doorbell. It does not work with Windows Try to turn on alerts and it says "Something is wrong : pointer is not valid" Try to look at Live View and it says "Something is wrong download ring app error code is 0x" Are you going to update this so it will work????
Have 2 floodlight cameras and 1 doorbell. Added a 3rd floodlight and does not come up in my device list both on PC and Mac. Ring support unable to help. The windows app is useless, nothing but "pointer errors". The iPhone app is great. Unload this windows POS.
I love the Ring and the Ring App, but I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because it does not support all the features available on the app.
I have 2 download ring app door bells different locations and 3 Stick Up Cams 1 first generation, the other 2 latest generation. I can looks live and look at history of video captures by devices. All that seems to work fine. I cannot zoom the video images. This is a huge problem if I am looking at days worth of historical data, so the Windows App does a much better job of keeping my place.
Now for the bad. The Windows app does not allow for adjusting any of the camera settings. You can only view the health and modify the names of the devices. That's it. This is going to be great when it matures.
App used to work now it gives server error every time you open. It works ok for the legacy devices but does not seem to support the ring alarm system at all. Tip: If on preview builds and loads to white screen a hard RESET seems to be the only thing that will allow app to install correctly and function again, download ring app. Also, call support. Something got messed up on one of my preview builds i guess. App crashes and dissapears when attemptig to log in with the added security code Ring emails me. Tech Support is less than helpful, after leading me through the same process several times, finally gave me some story about Ring moving away from Windows.
